What to look for
The penguins are an obvious starting point, but leave time for the aviaries and the Jurassic Journey dinosaur trail. Check the day’s talks and feeding programme when you arrive, then build your route around the things your children most want to see.

Birdland lists mostly level paths, with some gravel and grass areas, accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility. Dogs are welcome on leads. Read the detailed access information before travelling if a particular surface or facility is essential to your visit.

The Nest Kitchen and Café provides an on-site break, and picnic areas offer another option. Much of the experience is outdoors: bring layers and waterproofs for an unsettled forecast, rather than treating Birdland as a fully indoor rainy-day attraction.
