Why we like it
Cirencester Park is the easiest way to add proper open space to a day in town. The historic Bathurst Estate parkland begins within walking distance of the centre, so you can go from shops and Roman history to long avenues, woodland and wide views without getting back in the car.
Walking and dogs
There are marked routes through open parkland and woods, including areas where dogs can be off lead and others where leads are required. Some tarmacked routes improve accessibility, while the scale of the estate means it never feels like a small municipal park.
What to know
The estate operates day, community and annual passes, so check the current ticket arrangements before assuming entry is free. The Old Kennels provides refreshments, shopping and children’s play as part of the visitor offer.
Our tip
Use the park as the second half of a town-centre day: museum or shopping first, then a long walk before dinner.
