Greystones Farm Nature Reserve
A quieter Bourton outing among meadows, rivers and archaeology; dogs must stay on leads and seasonal trail closures apply.

A little more time
Greystones offers a different pace from Bourton’s busy centre. The reserve combines wildlife and farming with the archaeology of Salmonsbury Camp, giving a walk here more to notice than scenery alone.
Choose an open trail
Follow the designated paths and check the current route information before setting out. Meadow routes close during wetter seasons to protect wildlife and the ground. A route shown on an older map may not be open on the day.
Access and dogs
The Trust identifies the path from the farmyard to the replica Iron Age roundhouse as suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Wider trails include grassy surfaces, so match the route to your group. Dogs must remain on leads: this is a working dairy farm with grazing cattle and sensitive wildlife.
Arrive prepared
There is no public parking at the reserve. Plan to arrive on foot from an appropriate village parking place. The café and shop are closed; bring refreshments if needed. The Trust allows picnics at the seating outside the Discovery Centre, with rubbish taken away.
For a family day
Keep the walk short enough that looking for wildlife remains enjoyable. A change of pace here can balance a busier attraction, but there is no need to fit both into one afternoon. Our family weekend guide offers ideas for spreading the trip out.
