A little more time

Lechlade Riverside is a relaxed way to reach the Cotswolds’ southern edge. Start near St John’s Lock and follow the Thames Path past water meadows, willows and narrowboats, then return to town for coffee or lunch. The lock and footbridge give the walk a clear turning point, while the open landscape feels very different from the enclosed valleys farther north.

Allow one to two hours for an easy out-and-back, adding time if you stop in town. Surfaces are mostly level but can be muddy after rain, and river paths may be affected by seasonal works. There is no ticket or formal entrance, so check parking and local notices before setting off.
