A little more time
Sherborne is a village for taking slowly. The broad green, stone cottages and old estate buildings lead towards the church and the remains of the medieval abbey, while footpaths head out across the Windrush valley. It is quieter than the headline Cotswold villages and rewards a short walk rather than a hurried photograph.
Park considerately and keep the village lanes clear. Allow an hour for the centre and church, longer if you follow the surrounding paths. There are limited facilities in the village, so pair it with lunch in Northleach or a planned stop elsewhere. Church access is dependent on services and volunteer opening.
