Why we like it

The Mousetrap Inn is a useful Bourton-on-the-Water option when you want a proper pub meal and a bit more breathing room than the busiest stretch beside the river. It feels like somewhere you can build lunch or dinner into the day rather than simply grabbing whatever table happens to be free in the centre.

It also works well if you are staying in Bourton and want an easy evening without driving. The combination of pub, restaurant and rooms makes it a practical all-rounder rather than a one-purpose stop.

When it works best

We would use it for a slower lunch after exploring the village, an evening meal once the day-trip crowds have thinned out, or as part of a Bourton-and-Slaughters weekend. If you are visiting at a busy time, booking ahead is sensible rather than assuming there will be a table.

Pair it with

Walk the river first, visit the Cotswold Motoring Museum with children or in wet weather, or head out towards Lower Slaughter before coming back into Bourton for food.
