Best Cotswold Walks Under 5 Miles

These four mapped routes are under five miles, but that does not make them flat. Choose a circuit by its climbs and surfaces as well as its distance, and allow time for stops. Use the linked route leaflet for navigation and check local notices before setting out.
Broadway and the Tower: 4 miles
The National Trail circular route is 4 miles (6.5km), with an estimated walking time of 2½–3 hours before stops. It is graded moderate and includes steep ground. Pair the walk with a village visit, allowing separately for tower admission and refreshments.
Chipping Campden and Dover’s Hill: 4½ miles
The National Trail leaflet describes a 4½-mile circuit and a shorter 3-mile option. The full route includes climbs; the shorter alternative avoids some steep sections. Decide which version you are following before leaving the town.
Leckhampton Loop: 4½ miles
The Leckhampton Loop leaflet gives a 4½-mile route and estimates 2½–3 hours. Woodland and escarpment paths make this a varied outing, with steep sections despite the relatively modest distance.
Chipping Campden: 3 miles without stiles
The Cotswolds National Landscape route combines town history and countryside over 3 miles, with an estimated two-hour walking time. Stile-free does not mean level or suitable for every mobility aid: the route information flags slopes and a need for moderate fitness.
Plan the whole outing
Count the walk from your parking place as well as the mapped circuit. Wear footwear suited to wet grass and stone, carry water and keep dogs close around livestock. Save the map before leaving reliable signal, and use current signs if conditions or access have changed.

THE LONG READ
How to make this guide work
Distance is only the starting point. Check the climb, the ground and where you will eat afterwards before choosing a route.
Keep the first booking or destination as the only fixed point. Build the rest around short journeys, a proper meal and unplanned time. That makes the Cotswolds feel spacious and leaves room for the small details that do not make a list.
Check official opening information, save the route offline and carry a layer for quick changes in weather. Use the Explore links below recommendations to swap a stop without losing the shape of the day.
